Your spouse or partner had or is
having an affair and your reaction is a cocktail of emotions that
probably includes a combination of shock, rage, disbelief, anger,
sadness and fear. However, you might also be blaming
yourself. Logically, you know that you can’t be responsible
for a choice you did not make but emotionally you believe that
somehow it was your fault. Instead of sending yourself good
messages, your mantra is now, “I must not have been enough” and “if
I would only have…”. You become powerless and a victim.
